A youth corps member serving with the Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba, Ifeyinwa Okeoma was on Sunday killed when a vehicle lost control and rammed into her along the Federal College Road, Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The driver of the new Infiniti saloon car with registration number Abuja FT 490 ABC, was said to have lost control, while speeding and skidded off the road and rammed into the victim, who was standing by the road side.

The deceased, who hailed from Anambra State, was billed to get married on May 5. Ify as she was fondly called by friends and colleagues, was said to be studying for her Master’s degree programme.

Another eyewitness at the scene of the accident told Daily Sun that the car somersaulted a number of times before uprooting a concrete electric pole.
However, the driver of the ill-fated vehicle was rescued unhurt by sympathizers, who besieged the accident scene.
A colleague of the deceased youth corps member fought back tears yesterday while speaking with our correspondent, even as she brandished the wedding invitation card of the late Ify.
The colleague, who did not disclose her name, stated that the wedding invitation cards had been distributed to friends, well wishers, describing her late friend as a young promising and easy going lady full of life.
As at pres time, the corpse of the victim had been deposited at the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba.
