There was pandemonium at Imota area of Lagos State as thunder struck a 30-year-old man dead. The thunder, which shook some houses to their foundation caused panic among residents of the area.
One resident who identified himself simply as Bamijoko said he had never heard such a loud sound emanating from a thunder since he was born.

Bamijoko said he was eating with his wife, Afusatu and only son, Femi, when the thunder struck dazing him, his wife and son. He said his wife rushed to sit on his laps while Femi dived in between them.
Another resident, Taiye, said his heart almost jumped out of his mouth when he heard the sound.

Taiye said he was surprised when someone came to tell him that the thunder had killed a man called Olaitan. He said the incident occurred at about 6.30pm. Confirming the story to Daily Sun, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jaiyeoba Joseph said Olaitan was struck by thunder. Joseph said the policemen attached to Imota Police Station were alerted and moved swiftly to the scene and moved Olaitan to Ikorodu General Hospital where he was confirmed dead. He said the body was deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

The police spokesman also said policemen attached to Imota Police Division were still investigating the matter.
In another development, police detectives attached to Isolo Police Division, Lagos had engaged suspected armed robbers who wanted to attack bank customers, in a gun duel.

Daily Sun gathered that four alleged dare devil bandits who came to the premises of a new generation bank situated on Cele-Okota Road, wanted to attack their victims. Unknown to them, someone had alerted the Divisional Police Officer of Isolo Police Station, Mr. Danladi Daura, a superintendent of police, who led his men to the scene.

On sighting the policemen, the alleged robbers opened fire on them. At that juncture, two bank customers were able to escape with their money. As the hoodlums left the bank premises, the policemen exchanged gunshots with them, injuring two of them. The robbers abandoned their one locally made double-barrel cut-to-size pistol. Policemen recovered the gun and six ammunition.
